Toddler Sized Fingerless Gloves-Free Pattern

My little princess demanded a pair of these for herself after she saw a pair I made for someone else. These are very simple and work up super quick!

Abbreviations Used:
Chain-ch
Stitches-sts
Slip Stitch-sl st
Double Crochet-dc
Chain Space: ch sp

Chain 20 (this fit around my 3 year old daughter's hands), join with sl st to form a circle. Be careful not to twist the chain.
Round 1: chain 3, dc into each ch.
Round 2-3: chain 3, dc into each dc.
Round 4: chain 3, dc into first 5 dc, then chain 5 and skip 5 sts, then dc into the remaining sts. This makes the thumb opening.
Round 5: chain 3, dc into first 5 dc, 5 dc into the ch sp, then dc into the remaining sts.
Round 6-?: chain 3, dc into each dc around.
Once you reach the desired length, finish off and weave in ends.

You can make these as long as you want. They are worked from the fingers up. Ignore the small mishap on the glove on the left, my daughter was picking at it before I took the picture.




These were made with a G hook and Red Heart Super Saver in Pretty.

A Super Easy Hat with Decorative Edging

This hat is super easy and works up fast!

Abbreviations used:

Double Crochet: DC
Stitches: STS
Chain: CH
Magic Ring/Magic Circle: MC
Half Double Crochet: HDC
Single Crochet: SC
Slip Stitch: SS
Repeat from * to * when indicated.

Don't join rounds at the end of each row. 

The hat in the picture was made using Red Heart Super Saver and an I hook. A stitch marker comes in handy to keep track of the rounds.

Start with a MC or chain 2,
Round 1: 10 DC into MC or into second chain from hook (10)
Round 2: 2 DC into each DC around (20)
Round 3: *2 DC into first st, then DC in next st* (30)
Round 4: *2 DC into first st, then DC in next 2 sts* (40)
Round 5: *2 DC into first st, then DC in next 3 sts* (50)
Round 6: *2 DC into first st, then DC in next 4 sts* (60)
Round 7: *2 DC into first st, then DC in next 5 sts* (70)
Repeat round 7 until hat is desired length, starting with stitch number 60 in last round, HDC in next 5 sts and in the remaining sts SC.  

Join in contrasting color.
In contrast round: *ss, chain 3, and ss* repeat in each stitch around.

Sewing Masterpieces

Lately I have been so busy crocheting I abandoned  my sewing machine. Today, I decided to get out my sewing machine and make a couple of gifts.

This is a blanket I made for Xander. The topside is a super soft and fluffy polka dot print and the bottom side is soft flannel in orange. The corner of the blanket has a small rectangle of polka dot print cotton that has 'Xander' embroidered on it as a personal touch.





This is a bag I made for a friend. It's a nice size tote bag. The outside is made with orange polka dot print cotton and the front has a pocket. The pocket has initials embroidered on it and it is sectioned into 3 separate sections. The inside is hot pink with an orange and white polka print pocket on the inside. Each of the two straps are made with the material from the outside and inside.

Crochet Hook Case from an M&M container

Crochet Hook/Pencil Case

This is a great way to reuse an empty M&M container to keep your crochet hooks or pencils in one place!

Abbreviations Used:

(American terms used)

Stitch: st

Slip Stitch: sl st

Chain: ch

Single Crochet: sc

Finish Off: FO

I used Red Heart Super Saver in 'Pretty' and an H hook.

This is crocheted in the round and you don't join at the end of each round. Stitch markers will come in handy for marking the beginning of each round.

Chain 2, sc 6 in 2^nd chain from hook or 6 sc into magic ring (6)

Round 1, 2 sc into each st (12 st)

Round 2, *2 sc into first st, sc into next st* (18 st)

Round 3, sc into front loops only around (18 st)

Round 4, sc into each stitch

Round 5-? sc into each st around until you reach the top of the container or height you desire

Once you reach the height you want, FO

For the lid:

Chain 2, sc 6 st in 2^nd chain from hook or 6 sc into magic ring (6 st)

Round 1, 2 sc in each st around (12 st)

Round 2, *2 sc into first st, sc into next st* (18 st)

Round 3, *2 sc into first st, sc into next 2 st* (24 st)

Round 4, sc into front loops only in each st (24 st)

Round 5-6, sc into each st (24 st)

For the last row/round you will be creating the tab on the lid to connect to the main body

At the end of Round 6, *chain 1 and turn and sc into 4 st* repeat this step until you have a tab large enough to attach the lid to the main body with whip stitch.

I attached a chain of 10 to make the button loop and then I attached a button to the front.
